Welcoming a new addition.

I heard through the grapevine that I will be attending a baby shower in February.  The expecting couple are anticipating the arrival of their first son.  I was pretty excited about this event, everyone loves a new baby.  I began thinking about a present for the occasion and since they are rural people, and they love the rustic look I settled on a cute little baby blanket styled to look like a wool sock,

In addition to this I thought I would make a nursing pillow.  I know when my kids were small, back in the stone age, I loved my nursing pillow.  I found it invaluable, a new sitting baby was able to sit in it without falling over and banging their head.  Our son actually slept with this until he was about 4 years old, it made him feel like he was always being held on to in his bed.  I also had this adorable sock monkey flannel that I bought for another purpose and never used.  Fits right in with the wool sock blanket.

As I finished up the blanket and made some personal tags for the gift
I decided that I should make some matching booties and a cute little hat.  I was really excited about this project, and at the end of the day it turned out wonderfully.
I should point out that I am not a great crocheter, in fact until this project I had never completed anything that was of any use.  I don't know how to read a pattern, but am currently learning with the help of you tube.
The little tags were easy to make using Crayola Air dry clay in white.  I have had that specific container opened to over a year and it is just as good as the day I first opened it.  I love this stuff , it is economical and I have wonderful results every time. Here is the link, so you can check it out yourself.  www.crayola.ca/things-to-do/how-to-landing/airdry-clay.aspx
